I’m not sure if your math is accurate. Was Jim Traficant a millionaire before being elected to Congress? William Jefferson? There are a lot of elected officials who seem to hit the Trifecta AFTER they get into office – and I’m sure there’s a correlation between personal net worth and campaign finance contributions – but there still seems to be plenty of opportunity for a common criminal to hold a Congressional office or even get a judicial appointment (like those dimwit Judges in Wilkes Barre who were on the payroll of the juvenile prison developers). This is why we need to keep Gitmo open. We need a place to stash the real enemy combatants.

AND I forgot to mention that the odds of being elected to federal office if you’re not at least a millionaire or multi-millionaire are somewhere between zilch and none.

The Birthers would argue that the US should be excluded because el Presidente isn’t a natural born citizen – so, whether you’re a left wing loon or a right wing loon, we don’t qualify. That works for me! And I could easily get down with the idea of la France cleaning up the mess in Somalia, too!

Oh well then, I guess that lets the US out of the club, what with the stolen election of GWBush, twice, and the gerrymandering, the overwhelming odds an incumbent will win re-election, and the filthy control of the electoral process exercised by lobbyists…
So, I guess that pretty much means, France will be left in control of the world!

Happy you asked! I’d like to see an organization comprised exclusively of countries with governments that are representative democracies. Eliminate the despots, the oligarchs, the theocrats, the juntas, and the rest of the non-democratic world. Any country that abides by the basic standards expected of a representative democracy could participate – the rest can open their own club and entertain each other with long polemics about how unfairly they are being treated and how they are entitled to more respect and blah, blah, blah . . . Somalia, by the way, is not a representative democracy. I’m not sure what it is. But I don’t think there’s anything that can be done about it without making a huge military and economic commitment that would have to be shared among and coordinated with many countries. “Don’t all rush to line up at once . . .”

I don’t think the UN comes anywhere near the high standards ACORN has established. Remember food for oil? Now that was a model of high mindedness, wasn’t it? And then there’s the recent Goldstone report. Just shows that Human Rights Watch is no different than any other broken watch. The UN is a substantially worthless organization and should be put out of our misery.
